I was born in Kandang Kerbau Hospital or KKH at Hampshire Road.

Most of the babies of my generation made our entrance into the world at this place.

This hospital was the largest maternity hospital in the world. It used to hold the world record for delivering the most number of babies.

KKH was first built in 1858; named after the district where it was located.

The district around the crossroads formed by Serangoon Road, Selegie Road, Bukit Timah Road and Rochor Road was known in Malay as Kandang Kerbau or buffalo enclosure because in the old days, there was a buffalo pen in the locality.

In 1997, KKH moved to its present site at 100 Bukit Timah Road under a new name; KK Women's And Children's Hospital.

In 2003, the old premises was marked as a National Monument by the National Heritage Board, a tribute to an institution that has been the birthplace of over 1.2 million Singaporeans since its inception.
